Playgrounds

Reinventing the Square

Playgrounds, multiple spaces of play, and their socialising and transgressive potential are assembled for the first time in this publication, the result of research leading to the monographic exhibition under the same title. The catalogue brings together the works of different artists and collectives inside a structure of theoretical articulation, whereby the playful element of the artwork is intertwined with concepts related to the public sphere, exploring the city as a playing board, interrogating present-day carnival, stressing the right to idleness and discovering the possibilities of a new world from its waste. Moreover, twelve essays complete an extensive catalogue with over 300 works.
