Conditions for admission to the Museo with special prices

Access to the Main Building is free for two hours before closing time. You can reserve your entrance ticket online.
This ticket includes admission to the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions, but not to temporary exhibitions with designated time slots or special pricing.
Admission is allowed up to half an hour before closing time. The rooms will be cleared 15 minutes before closing time.
Free admission with accreditation
Only available at the Ticket Offices
Tickets are collected at the Museo ticket offices on the day of the visit upon submitting the official accreditation document that is valid for each case. This must clearly show the expiry date.
Accreditations in languages which do not use Latin script will not be valid and the corresponding international accreditation or a certified translation will be requested.
Should documents not include a photograph, an ID card or passport must be shown.
Criteria for free admission to the Museo
- Children and youth under the age of 18
- People over the age of 65
- Students aged 25 and under (for international students is recommended to show the ISIC card)
- Students over 25 on Degree and Postgraduate Degree courses in Fine Arts, Conservation and Restoration, History and Art History
- Journalists
- Holders of youth card or equivalent document
- For people with a 33% degree of disability or above, in accordance with that stipulated in the Royal Legislative Decree 1/2013, of 29 November, in the approval of the Consolidated Text of the General Law of rights for people with disability and their social inclusion, issued to apply to that set forth in the second final provision of Law 26/2011, of 1 August, in the regulatory modification of the International Convention on rights for people with disability. Those accompanying people with disability can also access the Museo free of charge, provided this support is essential for the visit to be carried out and is stipulated on the card or disability resolution issued for such purposes
- Persons who are officially unemployed
- Teachers (foreign teachers are encouraged to show international teacher card ITIC)
- Family groups made up of at least one adult and three children (or two if one has a disability) included under the same designated large family. Large-family members who access the Museo individually, outside of the aforementioned family groups, will benefit exclusively from 50% off the admission price.

Paseo del Arte Card
Visit the Museo Reina Sofía, Museo Nacional del Prado and Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza
Valid for a visit to the collections in the following 3 museums: Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, Museo Nacional del Prado and Museo Reina Sofía, as well as some of the temporary exhibitions in the second and third museums mentioned. The ticket is valid for a one-year period from the date of purchase.
Once the ticket has been redeemed, the three museums can be visited in any order.
The price of the ticket includes a 20% discount on the current admission prices in the three museums.
Certain temporary exhibitions may be excluded. For more information, please check the websites of the museums that can be accessed with this card.
Annual State Museum Card
Only available at the Ticket Offices
Cost of the card: €36.06
With this card you can visit, as many times as you wish, the state museums outlined below. It is valid for one year from the date of purchase.
Tickets to the Museo are not issued beforehand and are provided exclusively on the day of the visit.To access the museums, a card+ID document must be shown (an ID card must be shown to accredit the card holder).

A 50% discount for culture volunteers, members of large families, and museum staff not affiliated with Spain’s Ministry of Culture.
Tickets can be collected at the Museo’s Ticket Offices upon submitting a valid and duly updated official document of accreditation, in each case, visibly displaying its period of validity and expiry date.
For documents without a photograph, an ID card or passport must be shown.
CNDM concerts
Only available at the Ticket Offices
Discounts for attendees to the CNDM (Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical) concerts at the Museo.
50% discount on the general admission to the Museo and tickets for temporary exhibitions.
Tickets to the concert must be shown. Tickets from Season 2023-2024 are still valid and can be redeemed until December 31, 2024.
Temporary exhibitions that are assigned time slots or special rates are excluded.

The Main Site
Sabatini Building and Nouvel Building
The Museo’s main site has two access points, the Sabatini Building and Nouvel Building, both of which are the starting point of your visit and enable you to familiarise yourself with the different floors and exhibition rooms. Location and access.
It is recommended entering via the Nouvel Building (C/Ronda de Atocha, 2) if you have already purchased your ticket online.


Visits during free opening times are only for individuals.
Free of charge days
April 18, May 18 and 23, October 12 and December 6.
Public Holidays
The Museo is closed on 1 and 6 January, 1 May, 15 May*, 10 November*, and 24, 25 and 31 December. *These days may vary depending on the Community of Madrid’s business calendar.
